I hiked up this today before work:

2000 ft elevation gain in 1 mile..AWESOME

	it's part of this old cog railroad...the one downside is that like 75% of it goes through private property (the cog railroad company) but they don't enforce the no trespassing sign....or maintain it..parts of it were pretty rough. There is a trail that runs next to it (and goes to the summit of pike's peak) but it doesn't have that view (Reply to this) (Parent)(Thread)

	Before he passed away my grandfather lived near there. When I was there some 20 odd years ago we did the big family trip up to the top of Pike's Peak and doing a lot of hiking in the Garden of the Gods park. Back in his younger days my grandfather had participated in the Race to the Clouds (Reply to this) (Parent)
